Dieser Teil von ISO 1628 legt ein Verfahren fur die Bestimmung der Viskositatszahl (auch als "reduzierte Viskositat" bezeichnet) verdunnter Losungen thermoplastischer Polyester (TPs) in bestimmten festgelegten Losemitteln fest. Das Verfahren ist geeignet fur Polyethylenterephthalat (PET), Polybutylenterephthalat (PBT), Polycyclohexylendimethylenterephthalat (PCT) und Polyethylennaphthalat (PEN) sowie fur Copolyester und andere Polyester, die in ISO 7792-1 festgelegt sind, die unter den festgelegten Bedingungen in einem der vorgegebenen Losemittel loslich sind. Die Viskositatszahl wird nach dem in ISO 1628-1 festgelegten allgemeinen Verfahren unter Berucksichtigung der in diesem Teil von ISO 1628 festgelegten besonderen Bedingungen bestimmt. Die Bestimmung der Viskositatszahl eines thermoplastischen Polyesters liefert ein Mas fur die relative Molekularmasse des Polymers.
