The three parts of SAE J1453 cover material, dimensional, and performance requirements of steel O-ring face seal (ORFS) connectors for tubing and the O-ring face seal interface and nut portion of hose stem assemblies for nominal tube diameters of 6 mm through 38 mm and for nominal hose diameters 6.3 mm through 38 mm. SAE J1453-3 covers the requirements for "inch based" O-ring face seal connectors to inch stud ends along with the associated adapters, bulkhead and union connectors. Inch hex wrenching flats are predominantly used throughout this standard.

This part of ISO 3601 specifies the inside diameters，cross-sections, tolerances and designation codes for O-rings used in fluid power systems for general industrial and aerospace applications. The dimensions and tolerances specified in this part of ISO 3601 are suitable for any elastomeric material， provided that suitable tooling is available. NOTE The tooling most commonly available is based on 70IRHD NBR shrinkage rates (see 1SO 48). For materials that shrink differently from this standard NBR compound, a special mould can be required to maintain the mean diameters and the tolerance limits listed.
